It's hard to tell. Diagnoses are very tricky and only sometimes even helpful. Could you go to the doctor with him and maybe mention your concerns? I know nothing about this disorder but it might be worth discussing. Although if he claims he faked schizophrenia there might be other issues going on, hopefully the doctors know he stated that. But yeah I'd suggest you talk to his doctor/counselor if he has one and see what they think.
