What if our interest fizzles out and nothing comes of this meet? What if no one turns up? so many people say they'll come to a meet and then don't.

yeah. i know what you mean, it might have been better if we waited and planned at shorter notice. i don't know about people not turning up cos i've never been to a meet but have been to things where no one turns up. hopefully that won't happen.
you could book a room at the travelodge in advance to save those worries. i'll probably do that.
