It depends where abouts in Birmingham it is, and what happened when she got sectioned.
The main ones that I know about are the acute assessment wards at Selly Oak Hospital, they're wards E1 and E2, and are generally used if people go in through A&E there, they're only very short stay wards and the staff there are pretty fussy about visiting, and they're mostly for older people, although anyone can be admitted there for a short period of time.
Other than that, most of the care in central Birminham is based at the Barberry and Oleaster centres, which are on Vincent Drive, near the university medical school.
The Barberry has the more specialised wards, such as ED services and the Oleaster has the "general" ie less specialised wards. They're both easily phoneable, but again, visiting can be a bit restricted.
I don't know about outside of this area of Birmingham, and obviously it is a big city.
Does she have her phone? I'd try and text her, and ask her where she is, and then maybe contact the ward and find out what the situation is about visiting. I hope you and her are both okay.
