My former Psychiatrist used to have a CPN in his office and they would both see patients at the same time. If someone came in and was in bad shape the Pdoc would be called in and he would check on her recommendations. She could change and write meds scripts. I guess a lot depends on where you live too. Here in Pennsylvania, CRN's are a step between a Rn and a DR. with prescription writing priviledges except for certain controlled substances they require a MD signature. I hope this helps some.
