There are many different anti-depressants and they can all have different side effects and so talking this through with your doctor if you're thinking about going on them is a good idea as it also depends if you have any other medical conditions or on any other medications which could affect the side effects.

Common side effects are dizziness/ drowsiness/ increase in suicidal or self harming thoughts when first starting/ nausea/ lack of concentration/ lethargy/ poss diarrhoea. Most of these however will reduce within the first 2 weeks- a month of you being on them. However you do not see the full effects mostly until you've been on the medication for a month and it may be your dose then needs to be adjusted.

Some people do find that anti-depressants make it harder for them to feel their emotions, whether happiness or sadness and so you may also find this though if you are thinking about going on them the positives should be weighed against the negatives to see if it worthwhile you going on them or another form of treatment (such as therapy/ counselling; often done anyway in conjuction with medications) should be considered as an alternative.

As you look like you're wanting other people's own personal experience of how they've been with them I am going to move this thread to Mental Health Discussion and Support where I feel it would be better suited. If you want it moving back here or elsewhere you can discuss this with the forum mods and they can sort that out with you.
