I am currently:

I have terrible anxiety too. I find that my anxiety is hightened in stressful situations. For example I was absent for the material I was to be tested on the next day and I was freaking out about it thinking why did I put myself in this situation and beating myself up for how stupid it was to cut class, etc. Thinking those things will only make my anxiety worse. I was taught that the way to move past that point is to accept the situation. So that means not thinking about the "whys" and "should have's." It doesn't mean giving up either. Accepting gives you the opportunity for change because you aren't wasting your energy fighting what is or could be. I'm not convinced this is the best advice but I thought I'd share it.

Also I find that if I think of a broad topic, like you mentioned work, and that triggers anxiety, it may not be helpful to look at it that way. If you break it apart maybe you'll find that not all aspects of the job are anxiety provoking. Then you can look at one thing at a time so maybe it won't be so overwhelming as looking at the job overall.

Breathing exercises are really helpful too.

Every time you get up and get back in the race,
One more small piece of you starts
To fall into place
