Haven't cut for ages - but scars are causing me problems!!!

Wow, I haven't posted in the SI section for a while - I've been free for some time now, and guess have been absent from this board. - sorry guys...
I decided not to cover up my scars this year because my parents already know and tend not to question (although the scars still severely embarass me) my friends also know not to ask...
I also thought my scars had faded. (but I have a few bad raised red ones - not alot but they look pretty bad..... any idea why they're so raised? perhaps I was "supposed" to get stitches but never did?)
but apparently they haven't. and apparently my sister and my cousins haven't previously noticed them. they keep questioning what they are. I hate being put on spot and don't know what to say. I can't tell them I cut myself...
I just REALLY don't want to cover up this year, yet I want to avoid questions from family and peers (eg. teachers, or classmates..) the stares are really starting to get to me....

so guys, any advice on a compromise between hiding scars and avoiding questions?

As a little kid you believed in fairytales,
that fantasy of what your life would be: white dress; prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill.
You closed your eyes and had complete and utter faith.
Eventually you grow up. One day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears.
But the thing is, it's hard to let go of that fairytale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith,
that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.
