Mirtazipine/Remeron weight gain?
Hey guys,
My psychiatrist thinks, and I agree, that Efexor isn't helping me as it should be any more. My depression has gotten out of control again lately, I've been spending weeks on end just lying in bed with unbearable fatigue and my self-esteem is at zero right now. For some reason, anything that boosts my serotonin makes me unable to sleep through the night, so I currently take 50mg of Trazodone at night to help me sleep. My psychiatrist wants to swap the Trazodone for Mirtazipine, because that will help me sleep and hopefully that plus the Efexor will lift the depression.
I know Mirtazipine indirectly causes weight gain in a lot of people because it increases your appetite and makes you crave carbohydrates. I used to have an eating disorder so I'm worried that this might lead to a relapse. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions about how to manage that side-effect. How do you deal with the cravings without binging?
