Stopping is rarely as easy as it first seems & if your having a really hard time, maybe you aren't quite ready to stop just yet. There's a time for everything, including this. I read somewhere on RYL that people should stop trying to not cut & start not needing to. That's really good advice that I think everyone should take on board. Until we find other ways to deal with things, quitting will always be harder as we'll have no other coping mechanisms for when things go wrong.
If your counsellors panicked when you told them this, they obviously don't know what they're doing & maybe you should see a different counsellor who knows about self harm.
