I'm not saying don't encourage people to get help.

But I am saying safe cutting should be discussed. Obviously it's not alright to cut, everyone with at least one braincell knows that. But for people to know when it really is serious is useful. If you think stitches are the norm then you won't realise that it is that dangerous. It's not saying it's ok, the same as saying drinking isn't good for you but the government reccomends up to 3 units a day for females. That's providing advice for what is a safe level and when you are really putting yourself at risk, I'd say it's the same thing.
