bastards bastards bastards!

the biggest thing is not to give up on it, tempting as it probably is to get upset and give up, that is what the pct want you to do, so you gotta keep fighting.

as control freak says, you need to petition the funding comissioner, get signed statements from everybody you can: friends, family, as many professionals as possible.
if you are using NHS services, then you may be able to suggest to the pct that paying for this now will save them money in the long term.
if you can get a solicitor (preferably a mental health specific one) then that can be a big help, but i suspect that might not be possible if you are working and not claiming benefits. some sort of advocacy worker should be available; there should be one connected to your local psych department, or you could ask local mental health charities such as mind.
something a friend's mother did was to contact their local MP and get him onside, and said it really helped to have a big name supporting her.

its a ****ing catch 22 that a lot of people with mental health problems are inhibited against speaking out due to the nature of the problems they need help with, so having someone else to help you with this is invaluable.

whatever you do, keep on and on at them. the phrase 'the squeekiest wheel gets the oil is often used for situations like this, so you just gotta squeek and squeek til they agree.

it sounds like SLAMs is going to keep on at them too, which is great.

as your letter implied; you arn't the first person to have this **** pulled on them, and people struggle with this far too often. i have learned from discussions with other service users and with professionals, and from experience that this doesn't have to be the end of the road, just the start of the fight.

***wishing you extra strength to keep on until you get the right result***
