If you go to Uluru go to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) I loved Uluru but thought the Olgas were more beautiful! And I had great fun in Byron Bay, although that was more for going out and surfing rather than scenery! I thought Sydney was a great city, lots to see and some great coastal walks as well.
Personally I thought New Zealand was a lot nicer than OZ but maybe thats because I saw a lot more there. My favourite places to go there would be The Caitlins, right at the bottom of the South Island, either the Fox or Franz Joseph Glaciers north of Queenstown - both were great and we did a glacier walk which I loved! Akaroa and Kaikora were both beautiful and you can go whale watching at Kaikora.
The arctic centre in Christchurch was really good although a little pricy if you're on a budget and Cadbury world in Dunedin was great fun!
On the North Island I really liked the geothermal parks at Rotorua (or however you spell it, I can't remember), Te Papa was an interesting museum but far too big for me and I got bored before I'd seen it all. And go zorbing - it was so much fun!
