I'm really sorry that happened to you with the firework, it would have shaken anyone up!
I agree with what Spoons said, it's easy to give incidents meanings they don't have. For instance a good few weeks ago I was out for a walk and a guy grabbed hold of me. It'd have shaken anyone up, but because of certain fears I have, I assumed he wasn't human and was something supernatural come to harm me. But after talking to my support worker she was reminding me that anyone would have been scared by what had happened. But that it wasn't personal. It's easy to feel you are being victimised when you really fear it. But then if you try rationalise it, Katherine is a fairly common name, especially among teenagers, I must know 5 or 6 of them at least, the chances of them actually talking about you when you didn't know them are really really slim. Similarly with the firework, it's coming up to bonfire night, a lot of people can be idiots with fireworks and find it funny to throw them around. It probably wasn't personal. Would it make you feel safer if you could report the firework incident to your local beat officers?
