He could hear the loud voices and the slow dead beep, as the woman led him closer to the room he knew his friend occupied. His eyes glanced to the face of the nurse, walking slightly ahead of him, and he saw she had heard it too. Hurrying her footsteps he increased the speed of his, as they came to the room and he was told to wait outside.
Looking earnestly through the glass he could only see a scene that he would later describe as hell. He watched on as the medical staff ripped the shirt from his friend’s chest and left it bare only for the orange rectangles to be placed there. He watched as the green line, slowly following that same path along the heart monitor, did not rise after every electrical convulsion. One small rise as it hit and then just one long line. He watched them trying to save her life until he couldn’t bare to watch anymore. Every injection they gave her pained him, every ounce of electricity passing through her body shocked him and every breath she did not take tightened his chest to the point of inevitable panic. As he slid to the ground he shut off his ears and his eyes to the world, until a slight tap on his shoulder awakened him and he looked up into the eyes of the doctor…
