Well, for number 1. there is a private messaging feature in chat that allows you to talk to someone privately without going to another room.
As for the room names, don't let the room name direct the atmosphere. The room names are there to make sure that people get what they need while in chat.
It can be really hard for people who need support when they are in a room and everyone is talking about their favorite movie or something. With the new names it is easier to see the purpose of the rooms and what takes precedence over what.
