Seems people will always find a way to bring religion in. More than just bothersome, I know. As far as lock up and all that goes, you should be fine so long as your cuts are not life threatening. Most will look down upon it anyway, but since it is just SI, and not involving others, you are less likely to be thrown into the system. It might be suggested to you, as it once was for me, but generally you can just decline, and work on another method of treatment and recovery.
I was SI during my time in the military, so I hope that I know enough of it by now to be of some help.
