Lamictal for depression--causing Hypersexuality?
 

Hey,

So I had been going through quite a rough depression this winter(and spring-ish) and my doc perscribed Lamictal for me. I have bipolar tendenices, but not bipolar disorder.
Anyways.

I started taking it, and I couldnt tolerate the full dose, so I stayed at 75 mg instead of 100 mg. I'm not depressed anymore, but I think im going into a slight hypomania state.

Can lamictal make a person go from one end to the other? I'm a bit worried about what I'm doing...like going on cam naked and stuff that I would NEVER even dream of doing before this.

I'm usually the shy girl who blushes when someone even thinks about talking to me haha.

so---
bipolar tendencies+lamictal=hypomania?

(my mother has noticed changes too.) the only reason I am aware of a change is because my dad is bipolar, and i know what to look for, you know?
but the hypersexuality worries me....that could get me into trouble in so many ways.:yeah:

yeah, i thought i should...its just so nice to feel happy again, and lamictal is the only thing thats been able to kick my depressed butt into shape.

other medical issues prevent me from taking about 3/4 of the antidepressants out there.

It really would be a good thing to speak with your psych about this.

i would suggest speaking to your psyc about it. it is obv worryint you andf she will probs beable to sort it out. it might be something she can change and will getter soon. you dont know untill you ask

iv just started on limotrigine/lamictal aswell. and im currently finding it makes me a little...jittery. so id say it quite possibly is the lamictal. in which case if you let your psych no about it theyl probably be able to help sort it out :)

It is always a good idea to let your psych know if a med sends you into any form of upswing, especially if you are bi-polar.

Sometimes, it is a side effect that will only last a couple of weeks. But there is always the risk of full blown mania and so it is best to get it checked out.
