BOOKS! lol.
Has anyone got any recommendations on a good book? Hasn't got to be anything in particular, just want a read. I've recently read 'the time travellors wife' and have convinced myself that you can never read a better book; so yeah; prove me wrong! (please?) :) xx |
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Kite Runner are a couple that I really like.

catcher in the ryes good - i studied it for gcse english literature!
Also all the shopaholic books are sooo good - confessions of a shopaholic (sophie kinsella) is the first one. i like them anyway.... |
I just finished The Girl In The Red Coat by Roma Ligocka, it was brilliant. Equal parts heartbreaking and inspiring.
|
I have never read a better book than the Bible. I'm strongly atheist, but it is an excellently well written story, but also the most violent book i've ever read.
The Satanic Bible is pretty interesting too. I like how it accepts humour and sex into it's teachings, rather than rejecting them. The Anne Rice books are awesome also =] The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Words cannot express how much I love that man for writing it. Actually, anything by Stephen King. Anything by Clive Barker, especially the Books of Blood. And the Amory Wars by Claudio Sanchez and JTHM by Jhonen Vasquez. [Comics, but also a good read] And Mr. Men! [Proud to be a fan since I was four, before my childhood was ruined by their re-release :( ] |
Some great suggestions above! In addition:
Anything written by Neil Gaiman Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz The Living End by Stanley Elkin |
The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea by Yukio Mishima
Tropic Of Cancer by Henry Miller |
Just finished One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey - really really good and interesting read.
|
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.
|
Jodi Piccoult's books are amazing. She is not afraid to tackle difficult subjects and does so in a sensitive but real way, they are beautifuly written.
