mean people

ok so ive noticed it alot recently and its really starting to bug me and i know it is with other people aswell because ive asked other people about it.

some people on here seem to be just to upset others (i am not saying everyone is) and i dont know it might just be me liking what thumpers mum said to him (i like bambi) but if you havent got something nice to say dont say anything.

ok so what im trying to ask is that is there anyway posts could be checked for rudeness or meaness as it is a site for people to get help and who suffer from depression related things or maybe who just want to help other people and i dont really think its appripriate for things to be said to people as different people have different sensitivity levels and i know i get upset easily and so do other people.

i'll stop now could i could go on forever about it.

If any thread is flaming members then that is against the rules, so if you post report it a mod should sort it out. I don't think all posts could be checked though, that would be a mammoth job, and the majority of RYL posts don't contain rule-breaking so it would be unneccessary hassle on the mods.

What things have you seen that you think are inappropriate?

ladybug 19-02-2009 10:31 PM

its just little things really im probably just being super sensitive.
sorry

Basically what Heidi said. Mods cannot check every single post. However, at some point all the threads will have been seen by one member or another. There is a report post button, don't be afraid to use it if thats what you wish to do. (Although I don't think I have used it once!)

I think i know what you mean ladybug and i've been seeing it a lot recently also. Your best bet is to post report it. xx

SweetLemonSour 19-02-2009 10:42 PM

If anything bothers you, then you have every right to report it

im always worried to report something because i know i am super sensitive so i dont ever want to.

user_name 19-02-2009 10:49 PM

If it has upset you chances are it upset others. Just report it, if nothing happens then nothing happens but no one but the mods are going to know.

griddlebone 19-02-2009 10:51 PM

if you feel people are being mean you need to report them or we might miss it. Were not going to tell you off for post reporting and it would be helpful if you did.

ladybug 19-02-2009 10:53 PM

ok thank you

SweetLemonSour 19-02-2009 11:09 PM

Hope you're okay, if something does affect you, and you want to talk to someone, my pm box is always open

Echoing what everyone is saying: If it seems like what someone has said is mean or rude, feel free to report it. Sometimes it is an honest mistake or it just "came off that way", but no one can know for sure if you don't bring attention to it. Honestly, I think the mods prefer a "false alarm" to something slipping through the system. =)

Hope you're doing okay hun, I know being super sensitive can be hard sometimes xxxxxx

Basically if in doubt, hit the button, & just say, you might be being super sensative, but it hurt you, i mean yes at some point you may have to learn to take it on the cheek, or just ignore these comments, but remember, it's the internet, what is written & how it is said are very different.

& I think it was said before, i think mods prefer people to err on the side of caution than let something slip through.

Don't be! I see quite a few users who seem really cold and just plain mean, but I don't think some people really try to come off that way (although I could very well be wrong....)

_plastic 20-02-2009 12:15 PM

I know how you feel.

When such things happens i add the person on the ignore list & i report.

ladybug 20-02-2009 03:16 PM

thanks i think i like that last idea :)

TimesLikeThese 20-02-2009 03:29 PM

Also, I just wanted to add that Post Reports can only be seen by the mods, so the person who you report won't know it was you. If the person repeatedly upsets you, in the forums, chat or via PM, bring it up with the mods and they'll gladly help you out.

I hope everything has been sorted out for you. :)

Oh dear.
That is all I can say to this.
Just. Oh. Dear.

Oliviaface 21-02-2009 01:58 AM

Sarah, suppose it's not always applicable.
If you have a problem with them, why not PM them?

Oliviaface 21-02-2009 02:00 AM

Oh and also, if they DO remove the post that is offending or whatever, they'll probably work out who reported them.
