baby gerbils
Apparently my all boy colony of gerbils, aren't all boys
i have three pups!! unfortunately mum isn't looking after them at all so i'll have to wean them myself/ buy a heat lamp asap to keep them alive...but c'est la vie. they are very cute, and seeing as i'm hand rearing them i'll be able to get pictures sooner rather than later- so...just wanted to share- i'm a mum :-p |
Congratulations xxx

My "all boy" gerbils had babies once too. They were very cute but a bit of a hassle! We had to get a new cage to separate the girls from the boys, which meant double the cleaning out work. Boo.
But yay congrats on your babies!!! |
Aaawwww!

Woot, if you need any advice on care, PM me,, Ive had many gerbils in my time :)
I bet they're cute little things *melts* xoxo |
what do the pups look like? eg: fur? ears open? eyes open? moving about and coming out of the nest?
I just want to get an idea of how old they are, as if they're VERY young (no fur, no eyes, no ears, not moving around outside the nest) they don't stand a very good chance. You can wean them on baby food, the best one I found was by 'Hipp' called 'mixed vegtable medley', which you can get in any supermarket. Feed them using a syringe, and they only need tiny bits at a time. You don't need to feed them round the clock (baby gerbils don't feed 24hrs), but during daytime they'll all need feeding every two hours. All this advice ^ was given to me by my vet, when one of my gerbil mummy's died and I had to raise the babies. My babies were a bit older though (ears, eyes etc) but still not old enough to leave mum (12wks old). |
Babies!
Congrats Mummy Becci. :) |
i've added pictures - here!!

They are cute. Awwwww I once had to hand rear bunnies because she had 7 of them and couldnt cope with them all.
It felt very rewarding when you see them grow up and they become very tame xxx |
aww there so cute.
