Very much depends on how ill you are. There is a massive form to fill out about what you can and can't do.

I get around £35 a week which is lowest rate of the care part and lowest rate of the mobility part because "I need supervision when outdoors" and "I am a danger to myself and others"

I get high care and low mobility. So it is £67 for care and I can't remember the mobility amount.
I think you would definatly be intitled. Get a form to fill and ask your worker to help fill it in as it is a hard indepth form and she would know what to add to it. Or Mind may have a service to help complete it ( I used them before) Very helpful as a lot is hard to translate into MH stuff. Like getting up in mornings or dietry stuff. So get some help esp first time.

If your on a high rate its up 2 100 a week. I'm on low mob and high care i get bout 70. citzens advice the disability section were SO helpful with the confusing form, they knew what they were asking 4 and what to put.

I really recommend talking to the CAB and getting them to help you fill in the form.

There's a special MH person at our place and she's brilliant.

I get low rate mobility (£17.75) and middle rate care (£44.85) so £62.60 a week.

im on higher care and lower mobility and get £339 every 4 weeks.

i got my doctor to sign my bus pass thing and he didnt even say anything , just signed and stamped :)
i get dla mines up for "renewal" my probation officer helps me do it .. :) we've been filling the forms in each time i go and see her .
i get £250pm i find its kind of pointless tho. i spend it on C**p:hop:mostly going to meets :)

WHAT. Rail card. I JUST bought a young persons rail card at £20 odd quid and I could have had a disabled one?

I get the lowest mobility rate and highest care which adds up to £399 a month x

It is a £20 a year jobby too.
You can take one other person with you for 1/3 off also.
It can be used peak time also (not sure about the YP card rules)

No offence but from what I've seen on the forums your a lot more ill than me so in theory you should be entitled to a fair bit of cash

The thing to do is get somebody proffessional to fill it in for you
Thats the best thing to do because they know how to fill in the forms so that you get the biggest amount, if I'd have filled in my own form I'm pretty sure I would have got nowhere near as much as I have now

I went to the nearest MIND office and they did it for me
Definatly think about getting someone else to do it for you

I will go to the welfare office and get them to help me with the forms.

I wanted to know because my parents have just divorced and my Mum and and I will be moving out with very little money (the court settlement was so badly biased towards my Dad winning).

I also find it hard to travel to places because of the hallucinations/paranoia, and I have a lot of other issues which having some more money could help me with.

The Springfield Welfare office were really nice to me once when I went there for some advice :) I was so anxious but the lady was lovely and put me at ease.
I've started getting DLA over the past couple of months or so- it is so useful as before this I have been broke for what feels like forever!
I get low rate mobility and middle rate care and get just under £250 per month (plus the CEA cinema card is very useful!)
and i live by my freedom pass i swear, though i got that last year before claiming DLA.
I did the form online since I'm awful at actually posting things- plus with the online form you can save it and then go back to it a bit later (which is necessary as it's quite a long process!)
With me, they contacted my CMHT workers and I think my previous consultant (I was in the process of moving between CAMHS and CMHT care).

Good luck with your application. I would think you should get it but definatley get some help with the form to make sure you get it right- it can be a bit confusing. I get high rate care but couldn't figure out the mobility part so left it pretty much blankas I didn't know what to say.
Does take a while to come through but they do backdate it so get it sent off as soon as you can x

I'm going to the appropiate department at the hospital on Tuesday with a friend who gets his benefits from there, so I'll be able to work things out.
