(Meds Question) Melatonin
Right, I'll get straight to the point:
I'm off to the GP in the next few days and, amongst other queries, I need to ask for something to help me sleep. I'm not wanting to try benzos due to the addictive nature of them, and have tried zopiclone in the past but I don't like the side effects I get from it. So I'm thinking of asking for melatonin, since it's naturally produced in the brain anyway. But I have been told in the past that it's considerably more expensive than other drugs which is why it's not used as much as the other options to help with insomnia. So, do you think my GP would be more reluctant to prescribe melatonin simply because it's more expensive for the NHS? (Sorry, I'm quite a rambler!) Thanks :) xx |
I think that GP's aren't able to prescribe melatonin - needs to be prescribed by a psychiatrist

I am on Melatonin
and its a over the counter its all natural and safe... i been taken Melatonion since i was 3 years old |
In the US it's over the counter, dunno about over there. If you can get it or find it, try it. It can definitely be helpful. xx

I was on it for a time as an inpatient, but as morrigan says it only realy helps if your sleep issues are biological, as my insomnia was related to anxiety it didnt help at all.
Also in the NHS, they have a duty to provide treatment on need not cost, so that shouldnt be an issue take care hunny xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
