telling my therapist

Ok so i am going to my therapist for the first time that i am a cutter does anyone have any advice or experiences with this just want to know how others might have gone about doing this i am worried that he might judge me a little and am thinking about not saying anything what do you think should i do this or tell him nothing about it

Well done for deciding this its a really positive step!
If you think you might not say it could you write down what you want to say so you can read it to him or if you can't do it then give it to him to read maybe.
Good luck sweetie
Take care
xx

it's hard to make that first step and tell him and I agree writing it makes it easier. For me, I told my GP and asked him to tell the psych I was seeing; once it was "out there", it felt like a huge relief to me. I think I transitioned into by talking about an increase in one of my negative coping behaviours... and went from there. don't know if that will help or not.

Good luck with your appointment.

Hey Scot, how'd it go?

misfitscot1980 06-02-2009 02:46 AM

So I told him and we spent the whole session talking about it
I think it went good he gave me as much info on things to do to try and keep safe nd told me if I needed to talk to him to just call he gave me his cell phone number that was a little odd but he said he is willing to help me with trying to stop so that is one more person on my side with wanting to beat this addiction that i have so I think it was a good thing that i did it
I did ahve to take advice of pixie and raven and write it down and read the note that I wrote but it made me feel better to tell him about it now I just need to keep moving forward with trying to stop but that will be a day to day thing for me THANK YOU GUYS FOR LISTENING
