I found a lump!!!!! *girly post*

So this morning I put my hand on my breast and noticed that my nipple was usually firm,
it wasn't erect (like it would be if I was horny), it was pretty much flat against my areola... and it was just really hard.

I pushed on it and it hurt like hell... the pain radiated throughout my whole areola up to about half way up my breast.
So I started feeling around and lo and behold... I felt something that I have never felt before.
A lump about the size of a dime!!!!!

I am in shock. I mean, I am 23 years old... I am too young to have a lump!!!!!
I always thought this was something that happened to woman in like their 40's. I am scared out of my mind *cries*

Your best bet is to go and get it checked out.
It could be ANY number of things, and as you're still very young, cancer is unlikely unless you have a big family background of it, so do NOT stress yourself out in thinking the worst just yet.

*hugs* I can imagine that it would be quite scary. The best thing would be to get it looked at by a doctor as soon as possible. They will be able to tell you whether or not it's something to be concerned about. I'm not trying to scare you; but I want you to know that if it is something the sooner they can treat you the better. And hopefully it's nothing, and then the doctor can ease your mind.

*offers lots of safe hugs*

Hey honey, it could be anything! But like Acrasia said you're best to get it checked out. Make an appointment as soon as you can and get it seen too okay? *cuddles*

helloclarice 29-01-2009 05:19 AM

you should definatly get it checked out, but i've found a lumps in mine before, and my doctor told me that they were just a side affect from them growing oddly... so don't freak out, it's probably nothing, but still go get it checked out just to be safe! goodluck!!!!

It's probably nothing to worry about. I've read that lumps related to cancer are not painful, so it's hopefully just a cyst or something. Are you breastfeeding or pregnant? xxx

Mary Anne 29-01-2009 01:42 PM

Like the others have said go to the doc and get it checked out.

I had a cyst in my breast a couple of years ago and was in a panic until I found out what it was so get to the doc pronto.

*hugs*

I hope everything's alright Amanda, please get it checked out.

Stellata 29-01-2009 02:13 PM

Whereabouts are you in your cycle?

I had one when I was about your age. And it did go, apparantly it was hormonal.
I admit I freaked out too. I went to get it checked at the drs.

shadow-light 29-01-2009 02:48 PM

defantly go see a gp...

as has been said there are a lot of potential causes for this so try not to jump to the idea of cancer (I know thats hard), though even if it were cancer you're young and probably found iot relitively early so have a high likelyhood of being ok.
if you have ever been pregnant for any period of time that can cuase small lumps to form too, sort of like the breasts get prepared for breast feeding and then if it doesn't occur the ducts can later get blocked and form painfuul hard areas.
could also be a form of infection.

you should defantly get it looked at though sooner rather than later
