Meet attendance colour coding..

The general idea is so it's easier for the sponser/members to see who is going to meets and who maybe is etc..

So you post the list and add your name to it in the realivant colour.
any names that are in red or orange the Sponser pm's 1-2 days before the meet to double check attendance.

It's also easier for the sponser to know who they have to wait for at the meeting place so no one gets left behind but also the group isn't waiting around for someone who isnt coming .

Code that was used was

Green for people that are 100% going
Orange for people that were maybe/probably going
and
Red for people that had posted in the thread at some point but hadn't decided yet.

I came up with the idea for the last brum meet and it worked well , one of the other meets is using the colour coding atm to.

Just a suggestion really. Sharing the idea with other members/sponsers

wandered if it would be useful to be used for all meets ?

I think it's a very useful coding thing :)

linder surprise 06-01-2009 01:33 AM

seems quite excessive.

I think it would help the sponser know who they are expecting in the lead up too - nice for them to know.

Do you think it's worth building into the guidelines, or is sharing enough so that other people are aware of the idea?

Get the Meet Mods in to hear their thoughts too.

It did work great at the last Brum meet, and it made my life as sponsor way easier. I definately think it's a great idea!

i wouldent say that tbh, its just typing your name in a different colour.. Hardly going to cause difficulties.

I dont know really. See what the meet mods think.

It seems quite excessive too.

I mean, most meets, you just turn up. See who meets you there, and anyone that's joining later txt's you.

I think its a good idea, but Im not sure how well it would work because a lot of the time people do decide quite late on that theyre going to go and people change their minds etc. Usually theres a list of who should be attending, but I think maybe a lot of the time people would be green at first then change to amber/red....so Im not sure how well it would work, but it is a good idea and may be worth trialling :)

Well.. Im leaving ryl anyways , so its your choice if you want to use the idea .

On a practical note. Using certain colours, especially, red and green can be rather annoying for people who are colourblind.

griddlebone 06-01-2009 11:32 PM

wanna know something funny?I have real trouble reading red so whenever i see my name i get confused :P

Casper_Fading 06-01-2009 11:38 PM

sure sure... blame it on the clour Liv :P

Bitter_Angel 06-01-2009 11:41 PM

Its a good idea but it would be very hard to implement an get people to use.

griddlebone 06-01-2009 11:42 PM

Ok Im going to attach a poll and people can vote whether than want it trialled or not :)

For manc meets we just have a list, then if people are maybes they say so next to their name. Otherwise it's assumed they're going, and we check nearer the time to clarify. People forget to get rid of maybes, just as people might forget to change colours, so either way you'd have to clarify with everyone nearer the time.
So people should just be able to chose the system they use. Go with whatever the threadstarter/sponser likes best, really.

I think it's a good idea but knowing sponsers like me I'd completely forget to PM people so yeh..

Puppet Strings 07-01-2009 08:48 AM

I like the idea, but think it should be just used in specific threads that people agree & want it to be used in.

i didn't mean it would cause any kind of difficulties or it would be time consuming for a member.
i just don't think it is especially necessary.
