"If I could turn back time" - choices I would change
In my actual life I did English Lit, Sociology and Biology A Levels. I failed Biology. I went straight to teacher training college. I struggled. I went straight into teaching. I struggled.
I didn't get any therapy until I was 30 or so. Now, if I could turn back time, I would have...
How about you all? What would you have done instead? |
I regret ever having gone with my now ex. She ruined my life. I would have said no. Would have left her sitting on the ledge eating her doughnut.
Sometimes I regret self harming. I caused too much pain, but by the time I opened my eyes and realised, it was too late. Damage was done. Habits were created. Addictions were formed. |
I'd stop eating when I was 18, and stop spending money I didn't have when I was 20.

I'd have stopped trying to live up to other people's expectations earlier. Got help for the bullying at school instead of living with it for years and trying to become invisible(though not sure whether there actually was any help... but we're talking about an ideal world aren't we?!)

I would have never started smoking.
I would have bought my mum's house off her when she divorced my dad & sold it. I would have concentrated more at school/college/university. I would have not spent money as a student that I didn't have. I would have never decided chocolate should be my best friend!! :-p |
I went into psychiatric hospital halfway through my A levels. I deferred my second year. I started the second year and left again to go into hospital. Then, the year after, I started college again. But by then, I was too anxious and quit.
If I could go back I would never have gone into hospital in the first place. Scrap that, I'd go further back and never started self harming. |
Hmmm, that's a hard one;
I guess I'd always be honest with my parents from the start as one little lie out of panic spirals into much bigger. I'd take more care about my health from earlier on. I wouldn't have kept working myself to exhaustion last year, if I hadn't I might not be in the position I am now. I guess I'd have spoken earlier about my depression too and not just wait and hope for the best. |
I would never have made that first cut. Nothing good came out of it.

Basically, I'd stop letting people walk over me - being nice really isn't what it's cracked up to be.

I'd have never taken english lit at A level, and done politics instead.
I would have never started binge eating. I would have been more understanding of my friends issues when I was younger (little did I know then that I'd soon be facing the same *****) I would have never spent SO MUCH of my 18th brithday money on food. I would have learnt not to procrastinate with everything. |
I would have spoken up about what my chemistry teacher did
I wouldnt have let everyone walk all over me i would have worked harder for my exams but it is the past, i cant change that but if i changed the past i wouldnt be who i am today... |
I would have broken up with the guy i dated before my husband sooner than I did.
When I got sober, I would have eaten less ice cream. The rest of it is what it is. And as is said in alcoholics anonymous "we will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it." |
I would have learnt to trust myself.
I would have worked harder and asked for help sooner. I would not have slept with X out of fear of being homeless aged 16. I would learn to have faith in myself I would have applied for an English Lit degree rather than a History degree. |
I would have learned to like myself and ignore negative people.
I would have studied more in school. I would not have let alcohol and drugs define me. I would have asked for the help I needed. Thing is, if I lived life over again, I'd probably make the same mistakes!! |
