Medication question--clonazepam

I take clonazepam PRN (0.5mg) for the anxiety that comes with urges to cut. Usually when I take that amount, I fall asleep within an hour, and it allows some time to pass to see if the urges will go away. I've been in a bit of a crisis recently, with strong urges that just won't go away. I've been a month free, so my Dr. is trying his best to keep me clean. He suggested taking clonazepam 0.25mg three times per day (morning, late afternoon, and before bed.) Has anyone taken this regimen? Does it work for severe anxiety? Today is day 1, and I feel more "draggy" than usual. Less anxious, but more tired. Is it worth the sleepiness/fogginess?

Thanks for any info on this drug!

I take 0.5mg PRN up to 3x a day, but went through a tough time where I was basically taking it morning noon and night. It really worked well for me, but then again, it didn't make me overly drowsy either. A little bit more scatty and lightheaded, but I could actually function. So I'd stick with it and see if it works.

I was forced to take clonazepam 1mg 3 times daily when I was in the secure unit....I couldn't walk without the assistance of the wall next to me. I slept for half the day but kept waking up at night....withdrawal was horrible...I will never forgive that doctor for giving it to me...but 0.25mg is a more sensible dose and I can imagine it working like lorazepam, which I take PRN and it makes me calm down....sleep can be useful as when you wake up, the madness in the head has had time to calm down...

Thanks for the responses :) I've been trying it, and I slept most of yesterday (guess I'm a lightweight) but I do feel a little better today. Definitely less going on in my head, which is nice. Did you find the sleepiness went away after awhile, like with SSRIs? After I take a dose, I still get really sleepy for about 2 hours, then I seem alright again...

I think the sleepiness wears off a little with use, but not completely.
