Crazy salivation.

I'm on Clozapine atm. Every morning, I wake up to find that my pillow is soaked in my own saliva and that my cheek is wet with it. I appear to drool like mad at night.

Does anyone know how I can stop myself from drooling so much?

Aha1 That will be the Clozapine

Woops, posted before I'd finished writing! Yeah, like I said Steel, that will be the Clozapine. I'm on it for treatment resistant Schizoaffective disorder. Five hospitalisations, 6 diff anti-psychotics.
Anyhow, ask your Doctor to prescribe Kwells, it greatly reduces the hypersalivation.

When I started Clomipramine I had crazy dry mouth and they gave me stuff for that so I assume there's a medication to reverse it. Ah just read the rest of the thread aye looks like you have the answer from kits there.

there is a medication to reverse it, i have forgotten its name, so talk to your dr. about it.

It is a common side effect though.

I'm on Clozapine and I'm prescribed Pirenzepine which is supposed to stop the excess salivation. It doesn't completely stop it but it does help.

I don't know of anything that will stop it but I can suggest that until you do find something that you sleep with a towel/old blanket on top of your pillow if you don't want it soaked.

Thanks for the help, I will talk to a nurse about it.

yeah hyosine AKA Kwells travel sickness tablets help reduce hypersalivation.

FragileWings 11-12-2008 11:31 AM

I do that... even without being on any psycho pills >___>!

Steel Maiden 11-12-2008 04:50 PM

I'll ask my doctor about Kwells. Thanks.
