Why..?
Why is it hard for non SI-ers to not understand it..?
i mean everyone who never done it think oh okay since they do it they can stop No its like not that Non SI-ers need to understand that SI-ing is like a drug like any very ADDICTIVE drug out there its like getting a high from it and they dont get it that people who SI need help to stop and learn new coping skills GAH those people just make me so mad |
I think it goes hand in hand with not understanding mental illness... so many folks out there look at a person who is paralyzed by depression or some other mental illness and do not believe that it is an illness. They think it is something they should just be able to snap out of. They believe they are just being lazy or melodramatic...
*sigh* Doesn't answer your question but it's all I've got. Sorry hun |
nah its all good

From someone who is a non-si'er.....
you are right....we don't fully understand. Just like as you said, it is no different than drugs or cigarettes. But unless you are there you have no idea how hard it is to stop. Guess it goes for alot of things.....if you haven't walked in the shoes you will never fully understand. |
yep
maybe i should do something to help non SI-ers to understand how SI-ing can be hard to stop idk yet |
it's frustrating though.. people not understanding others.. whether it's SI or mental illness in general... there's so much stigma attached to it that it makes getting help harder.... not only do we have to fight our addiction and/or illness, but also the stigma people place on you....
not that I have any answers to the solution... it's just frustrating!! sorry for venting... i just couldn't help after reading these posts.. |

exactly how i feel its the stigma that prevents a lot of people from getting the help they need which is just awful, you wouldn't make a physically ill person feel bad about feeling ill. gah. *sends hugs* |
