Cold remedies?

I am sick :( well, vaguely ill anyway! (along with half the population, it seems at the moment!) Does anyone have any advice on to get rid of colds / sore throats? Would be very much appreciated!

Crap loads of vitamin C
Warm lemon and honey to soothe sore throats
Warm milk with whiskey in it.

Have been pumping myself full of oranges today :D Tomorrow I plan to pick up honey, lemon and lemsip from the supermarket!

*splutters into the thread*

I'm all dosed up on Lemsip, and am currently sat in bed hoping for a better nights sleep tonight.

Wrap up warm, relax, sleep, cold medicines to help the side effects, and hot water with lemon & honey.

Get well soon, x

honey and lemon in hot water always works a treat.

The second I get a cold, I chop up every vegetable I have in (Carrots, Pepper, Onion, Courgette, Mushroom, Tin of tomatoes or something, vegetable stock etc), shove it all in a pan with some water, leave it to cook for a bit, then add a teaspoon (or as much as you can handle) of chili powder. Tis full of goodness and makes your nose run like mad so everything is nice and clear and you can breathe!

Eeek get well soon Puppet :) am currently smothered in Vicks Vaporub and all thats happening, is I smell really weird!

Honey and lemon seems like a tried and tested theory, will be trying this first thing tomorrow :)

I got some of Boots own brand Lemsips and some Covonia for my cough today.

The Covonia has worked a treat! =D

sopranonut 07-12-2008 12:03 PM

I swear by lemon, fresh ginger and manuka honey with hot water.
Hope you're feeling a bit better by now! :)

pugdog 08-12-2008 06:31 AM

its all about cold eeze, (i dont know if you have those in the uk, but they are like throat drops that taste terrible and somehow make the cold go away faster) I also take alot of vitamin C.. and gargle with hot sauce to clear my sinus. mmmmmm hot sauce...

*still splutters into the thread*

Covonia is disgusting, but is probably the best cough medicine around so it'll have to do.
For now though, I'm onto the kiddies stuff because we've ran out until mum goes to Morissons. Psht.

I'm back off to bed.

Misunderstood. 08-12-2008 01:00 PM

Rest and Sudafed or something similar.
Get well soon hon..x

Dreaming. 08-12-2008 01:22 PM

Get honey, lemon, and buy a bottle of glycerin from Tesco or somewhere. Mix, and drink :)

Either that, or if you're coughing a lot, stand in a steaming room, like a shower room. Helps to clear your throat :)

And rest! Just, lots of rest.
