Seeing a psychiatrist.
I'm going to see a psychiatrist, probably within the next week, & was just wondering what to expect.
I've seen psychiatrists before, but I was under CAMHS then & I wondered what the differences were (if there are any) with that & seeing a psychiatrist under adult services. Thanks. x |
I don't know what the difference is (if there is any) but i really hope you get on with him/her.
Let me know how it goes dear. Ali xox |
Heya, I recently transferred from CAMHS to adult services. There is not much difference really, they still ask lots of questions and they know quite a bit about different options and treatment that is more suitable for you age. In my experience they care and want to help and take me seriously and listen to everything I have to say. There isnt a huge difference really, just that they treat you like adults, like an equal. If you find there is any other differences once you have seen the psychiatrist, let me know, it would be interesting to hear it from another point of view. Hope this has helped a bit.

There's not really a difference. They ask the same questions, really. I guess the only thing is that adult services are more willing to consider prescribing medication (if you agree, too) than CAMHS were. I also found that seeing a CAMHS psychiatrist wasn't brilliant because she put everything down to my age and school. Adult services take you more seriously and don't keep referring to your age.
