lost my health insurance
so i was on the state health insurance but now my mom got a new job and they say she makes to much for me to be on it and the insurance her job offers is to expensive and they have a huge co-pay
so i don't have health insurance anymore so no more meds. no more therapist or psych. I have about 2 weeks left of pills and then i'm gonna have to stop cold turkey which isn't good cause my pills can cause seizures and horrible withdrawal from stopping cold turkey. so i'm basically panicking and my life is falling apart. and i don't know what i'm gonna do :crying: |
It maddens me that they can just stop it like that.
Can you get any of the help on your Mums insurance? I dunno how it all works but it does make me annoyed that so many Americans suffer because of this system. |
Argh the American system drives me MAD. Can you have something like a tribunal to challenge the cancellation? Ok, sorry, dumb idea. I'm sorry you have to go through this.

Does your mom's job pay for her insurance? If so find out if you can get on it. I know I can be on my dad's insurance until I'm 25 as long as I'm a full time student in college and it doesn't cost my family any thing. If that doesn’t work I would look around a try to find a cheaper insurance plan maybe from a different company. I know there's lot of different plans that vary in cost. If you’re in college there's sometimes the college will offer a cheaper insurance program. If you can't get on insurance again there are always free counseling programs around such as ones at schools and colleges.

I don't know where in the US you live but social services in NY offers very cheap psychiatrists and therapists. To be honest they aren't very good but they're better than nothing. And the cost is less than the cost of most copays. Maybe you have something similar in your state.
I am in a similar situation right now. I had to drop out of college after my suicide attempt over the summer and starting in January I am not covered on my mom's (very reasonable) insurance program through her work. My job doesn't offer me insurance and not having health insurance in the condition I'm in isn't an option. I'm not eligible for my state insurance so I'm going to be paying over $300/month on health insurance starting in Jan. I'm lucky I live at home because that's most of my paycheck.
