RYL Advent Challenge
 

Right so this is just an idea I had, so feel free to say any reasons why it would be a bad idea, or if you've any ways of improving it etc.

There's been a lot of discussion lately about feeling a lack of a sense of community and some threads receiving inadequate support replies. So I thought for advent it would be nice to have a little challenge to try and spread some community spirit and christmas cheer. Anyone who wanted could take part. But my idea was, that for every week in December member's are set a different challenge:

1st to the 7th December
Reply to three support threads in a forum you don't normally go into. Everyone has forums they feel more comfortable with and some forums get a lot less replies to threads than others, so by making a little effort to change your habit you'll be giving support to someone who wouldn't otherwise have had it from you

8th to the 14th December
Send a PM to a member who you feel has made a positive contribution to the site. RYL is so good because of the people who make it, so wether it's a Mod, First Aider, someone who posts great advice in support threads or someone who posts entertaining threads on general chat. Let them know their effort is appreciated.

15th to the 21st December
PM a new member welcoming them to the community and introducing yourself to them. RYL can seem big and anonymous when people first join, so it'd be great to reach out to a newbie to make them feel welcomed.

22nd to the 25th December
PM 5 members to wish them a Happy Christmas!


So yes opinions on wether this would be a good idea? Or if it's awfull tacky or whatever?

There's discussion about a christmas/advert challenge in the staff boards at the moment, which we could then tie in with this [although we were thinking of more of a quiz type thing]; or it could be done as a seperate entity, but either way I like it and it looks good :)

I think it's so positive for the community, and should be separated from the Community Team idea, as it is just wonderful :)

I think its a great idea, it wont be the same as the quiz because its totally different, I think it deserves to be something all by itself :) xx
