Yay finally an official member now doing one of the things i'm getting proud of sorting out a uniform !!!!

even though the high visibility section is too damn confusing lol

no more searching in my 13 year olds brothers room for something that looks like a shirt lol. When its really a sports top with a collar lol.

By uniform, do you mean - No 1's / Black & Whites / Greens?
Visibility can be also be deciphered - Lightweight - Bomber - Special (AKA reversible, extra long etc...)

Did you get a new set or old? Quality & material depend on both. I wear the old heavier but sown greens in contrast to those who wear the lighter, more plastic looking kits. If it's the greens - the flappy bit in the middle is the modesty flap which you can either button on or tuck behind.

Coooool, more SJA members <3
The uniform costs over £100 doesn't it? O_O

lolly_x 21-11-2008 06:14 PM

sarah my division pays it under some lea way lol but yes it would have cost over £100

TimesLikeThese 21-11-2008 06:31 PM

Wow, lucky. I'm not allowed the uniform yet *sulks*

flying_kiwifruit 21-11-2008 10:32 PM

Yay welcome to the SJA family. I'm only a cadet at the moment but that changes in 20 das to a leader, and in 4 year I hope to be a officer.

Can I ask what part of St John you will be working for?

Belt?
We did have the old three stripe belts but I thought the regs were changed?

Doesn't your division recycle old kit? All of my kit I currently wear has been worn by someone else in the past. Plus £100? It's barely £6 for a shirt.

Officer promotion isn't the aim of SJA. Although training is a big aim, surely the best part of SJA is getting out and about for free and putting practice into action. Also becoming a DO might be harder than you think, with interview based on both training, social and practical elements. Not trying to scare you away but that is what will happen.

I won't even begin to talk about county staff and politics between the people on the ground and the people in the offices. Because I'll just explode.

Ah I think we have a slight misunderstanding here, By officer I meant a Ambulance Officer or as some people would call it a Paramedic. We call them both over here.

I'm a St John member also but I have a differant uniform. Just a purple polo shirt, because I'm in the homeless outreach unit.
I do public events like the 'regulars' though as I've the training. I just wear polo shirt instead. and it costs nowt!

YAY for St John Ambulance!

Ah I see so from an FA upto ETA. I get you. 4 years though? It's 1 year from FA to AFA so 4 years still is a bit of a stretch. Plus it's very helpful being able to drive the ambos too. It's quite common to have too many ETA's and not enough Driver's

Nice one

lolly_x 22-11-2008 04:40 PM

y is it at training nights i use radios pretty well part from mixing up numbers but in a duty i stammer to hell and shout down them

oh and PRFs do my head in :P

Breeze 22-11-2008 05:20 PM

I can just about manage PRFs! Just.
Last shift I did was sheer bordem! 6 hours of standing there and not a single plaster, which is good for no injuries but damn the whole event was boring!

Fat Boy Slim beach Boutique was fab though. Best (and busiest) I've done so far.
