I'm not leaving
Hey People,
Excuse me while I babble here... I have decided I'm not leaving therapy until I'm ready. I'm doing a Counselling Skills degree (When I finish I will have a degree but not be able to call myself a Counsellor until I have done a Diploma and I may even have to go into something else such as Youth Work before doing the Diploma as I'm only 18, 19 this December) Anyways I'm still having my own therapy (which as far as I know isn't seen as a bad thing when you are doing Counselling Skills training) Since being on the course it has been brought home to me that I haven't yet come to terms with my (mild) Cerebral Palsy and I love myself as a part of a relationship with my Boyfriend but on my own, as a seperate being I hate myself. There is something known as Self Actualization (Carl Rogers, Maslow et al..) which is basically where you reach a stage where you are happy with yourself. It can take people a lifetime.. therefore I'm not wanting to Self Actualize fully by the time I leave therapy but I want to have started the process. I don't want to be left alone.. Damn......this could have been written as a rant but I wanting people to have the chance to offer replies. If you got to the end of this thanks for reading Syrup xx |
Sweety I think it's a great to have a goal for your therepy sessions hun.
I wish I could offer more sweety, but I love you and you're in my thoughts Xxxx |
Hey, everything in your own time... that's okay. You are setting a goal for doing it and that is the important thing. It's a hard stage to reach depending on your circumstances and issues... I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. *big hug* We're here for you any time you want to rant!:-) |
Good for you.
Remember that most counselling/psychotherapy diplomas and MAs don't take students until they're at least 25. So I think getting lots of therapy and job/life experience beforehand is an excellent idea. |
