a few questions

ok, sorry if this doesn't come out well, i feel so messed up right now. so i have a few questions:
  1. how do i know if whats happening is worth/bad enough going to seek help for? i feel im struggling and am really in danger of going right back to the beginning again. One of my friends suggested i consider trying to find someone to help. At least another 2 dismiss it as nothing. Do i just try and muddle through again? because this is ruining my year, my once in a lifetime trip.
  2. i wrote an email to my tutor at my home uni asking about support offered whilst abroad and she said maybe think about going back to uni in my 1week xmas holiday and seeing the doctor, councellor or student support again. is there any point making the 6hour round trip, even supposing any of that is open in the xmas hols? Does anyone know if you are legally allowed to seek help in the uk if you are resident in another country? i guess they'd be reluctant to try anyway because of the distance, its not like i could just keep popping back.
  3. At the moment i can keep muddling along. But its getting the better of me more and more. im not sure its sensible to wait untill next octber when im back at uni if this trend continues. But what else can i do? please, any suggestions.
and im sorry if none of that makes sense.

Hi,

Firstly only you can decide wether it is worth seeking help or not, you haven't stated what your problems are, but if it's impacting on your life significantly, then it's definately worth seeing what help would be offered. With regards to seeking help whilst abroad, I've no idea, I know E111 means people abroad can access emergency treatment, but for ongoing treatment I'd assume there would be different arrangements. Is there not a Doctor who you could see whilst you are abroad? Any help your usual GP could offer is likely to be based back home and would therefore be difficult for you to access. What might be useful though would be to contact your old Dr, explain what is going on and get him to write a letter for a Dr in your country of residence so he could see what help could be offered whilst your there.

I hope you find a solution

thanks. yes, its been pointed out to me that although i have 3 insurance policies including the EHIC, i can't access anything here that basically isn't minor short term things like flu or emergency stuff like accidents. So i think im a bit scuppered there but i really dont know if i can leave this untill i get back cos its having a big (negative) impact on my life at the moment.

its mainly that my depressions getting a hell of a lot worse (or at least having a bigger impact on my life) plus ive started SI again plus... well yeah. things are falling apart basically.

Have you considered doing something like Moodgym online whilst you're over there? It's an online CBT course for depression. It might be some help to you until you can get some help in real life.
