itchy cuts and not stoping bleeding (triggering possile)

i cut today and now it is itchy . why? also my older cuts itch even more. also when i cut it takes a long time to stop bleeding. and even when it is on accident it takes a long time. the longest a cut has bleed was i think 8 hours. is there somthing wrong? should i be worried?

It is perfectly normal for cuts to itch when they are healing. The nerves in the area are irritated, and new skin dries out easily, both causing itching. The best thing to do is to cover them in antibiotic cream and a bandage until they are healed, changing the bandage at least 1 time a day. This keeps the wound moist so it shouldn't itch as much.

When the cuts are bleeding, are you putting pressure on them right after they happen? When you say bleeding, how much blood are we talking about? Enough to make little spots on a bandage? Or are you constantly soaking through bandages?

my cutting i do on purpose i don;t try and stop the bleeding. but when it is scabs or accidental cuts then i try to stop the bleeding but it usually doesn;t work. when it won;t stop bleeding then i'm soaking through at least 2 band-aids. is that bad?

What are you doing to stop the bleeding?

flinchybird 01-07-2007 08:51 AM

applying pressure and band-aids

Aidee 01-07-2007 08:51 AM

How long are you applying pressure?

You may have diabetes or anemia (Spelling mistake?) I'd see your GP about it for tests if i was you. Stay safe x
