Hallucinations?
For the past... Three or four years, I've been experiencing periodic severe hallucinations. They effect all my senses, but especially my visual and tactile senses.

This is quite disturbing, but the majority of the time, I realize that these things aren't real. And if I'm not quite sure, I ask someone, and their answer always satisfies me. I've brought this up to my doctor many, many times, but she's adamant that nothing is wrong. I don't understand how this is normal, but she seems to think that it is. So, my question is, if anyone has a similar experience, either with doctors or with hallucinations, and if anyone has any ideas about what I should do about the hallucinations. ((Psychiatry is out of the question, as my health insurance won't cover it, and my family can't afford it.)) Thanks in advance, Megan. |
You need to see a different doctor first off, because seeing things isn't normal.
Also, due to a new bill passed on congress soon insurance companies will have to treat mental health problems the same as physical illnesses, so your insurance may start to cover it soon. There are also subsidized clinics that you may be able to look into depending on how old you are. You pay based on your income so it opens up a lot of options to people. |
I don't have advice, but I have had similar experiences. It's often animals, mostly cats, but it has been mythical/extinct things such as minotaurs and pterodactyls. I have feelings too, like feelings of things hovering above me, or the weight of the pterodactyls on my shoulders. It can be very scary. Apparently you should challenge hallucinations, for example if you see a cat, try and touch it to see if its real.
I do think talking to your doctor to see if they have any ideas of what you should do. |
