I just Finished my UCAS application...

... any one else finished? or heading that way? or fed up of all the pressure around UCAS?

I Ended up applying for Cardiff, Liverpool, Bath and Oxford Brookes for Architecture.

I think that the whoel process is too complicated for my small brain.
I dont want to grow up >.< and uni is scary, but i got to use my card to pay for the form so i feel all grown up! :P

....yeah, slightly random thread, but im board. :P

mesmerized. 12-10-2008 12:58 PM

But I havent even started my personal statement

Tears and Rain 12-10-2008 01:02 PM

Well done :)
I remember UCAS being a nightmare.

[Purple_Rain] 12-10-2008 01:06 PM

it took me...*counts*... 9 drafts of my personal statemement?

and we started straight after AS exams!

...i still have to sort out artwork for my portfolio. 4 pages of A4 double sided.

Psiren 12-10-2008 01:47 PM

Mine needs to be done by the 15th
I have so much left to do on my personal statement :(

I hate UCAS
so stressful

lungs locked lips locked 12-10-2008 01:55 PM

Argh. UCAS. Now that was a time I'd rather like to foget.
Good luck to those yet to start that nightmare =p

Caru y Nos 12-10-2008 02:13 PM

Well done and good luck. You can do mine if you like Liz? ;]

Miss Taylor-John keeps trying to get me to write "in the-box". By that she means as the admissions tutor wants me to on my personal statement, not as extreme as me lol

And UCAS keeps logging me out or going haywire, i also need to finish looking up universities. So far i'm contemplating Carmarthen Trinity, UWIC, Sheffield Hallam, and i need to look up some others which would accept me (who'd want me? o.0 lol). Heh, psychology with my failures also called grades is not easy to get into. (:

P.S.
If you want a laugh Liz, then i may have to rely on the Welsh Baccalaureate to get into somewhere good, and theoretically Carmarthen would accept me with just the WBQ :-P lmao

[Purple_Rain] 12-10-2008 02:16 PM

my mum keeps calling it 'UCA' (said ucca)
and when i tell her some o fthe things that are different, liek the fact uni's cant see what other uni's your going to, and your proirities, her face is a picture. and she says things like '...really? wow. it wasnt liek that when i did it! are you sure?' bareign in mind i've todl ehr the same thing several times, becuase she keeps forgetting >.<

Personal statements ar ea nightmare, so best get the over with quickly.

my teachers wernt exactly helpful. all they seemd to do was tlel me off (th ebiggest example beign me only wanting to apply to one uni. i only applied to the other three to shut them up, though im startign to warm to the idea of goign somewhere else jsut to get out the house)

[Purple_Rain] 12-10-2008 02:17 PM

haha, just the WBQ? oh dear.

then again, cardiff is the best in britain for architecture, one of the hardes to get into, and it said i twoudl accept AA and a pass in WBQ, so i shoudl shut up!

Caru y Nos 12-10-2008 02:27 PM

Are you hyper by any chance? :-P

And my parent don't know anything about uni or UCAS, WBQ, etc. Still doesn't stop them trying to force their apparently 'better' opinions on me. They think i should drop school and get a proper job as obviously my deteriorating mental health is because of school and me not been able to cope. Heh, they amuse me, i'm listening to them now, unfortunately i'm tied downstairs with them if i want to use the internet >.<

And the WBQ is actually a good little booster, as much as i hate it, resist it, generally let the teachers know what i think of it and have my delight listening to Grif's talks of it ;] lol

haha, *high fives*

not hyper, just, strange (Y)

you're parants are actually that observant to notice? im impressed. though i *think* they have missed the point on the cause, just a tad...

-Chelsey- 12-10-2008 03:31 PM

Really random, but my cousin has just started Architecture at Oxford Brookes- He ADORES it.

Accidentally Abstract 12-10-2008 03:36 PM

I didn't think UCAS was as stressful as everyone else seems to think it is *shrugs*.

Do you only apply to 4 uni's now? I applied to 6.. Hmm.

Sans Peur 12-10-2008 03:38 PM

I dread it when i have to apply for my post Grad course :|

[Purple_Rain] 12-10-2008 03:46 PM

we apply for five now. but the only other uni i would have considered goign to would have been cambridge, and i gav eup on that when i got my AS resutls in august... , so i only apllied to four. or maybe i jsut wanted ot be different :P

and, chelsey, it may be random but ti's re-asuring, becuase being me i hadnt actually looked in too much detail at other uni's.

-Chelsey- 12-10-2008 03:50 PM

One thing not to leave till the last minute would be your portfolio, then you wont be so rushed when it's interview time etc.

Psychology is really good at my uni - Gloucestershire. I have loads of friends doing it and they love it.
Also the grades aren't too high which is good because I'd have never have done it otherwise.
If you need any info just PM me, I know lots as I'm in my second year now :)

PixieHope. 12-10-2008 04:51 PM

Also I loved doing UCAS. But maybe that's because I'm a nerd?
