Medication or remission?
I've been on medication for the better part of a year and been in remission from depression, PTSD and severe self harm for the past couple of months, and I've put on a HUGE load of weight. I mean, like 4 stone. Could it be a side effect of the prozac, or could it just be that now because I'm feeling better and recovering, I'm eating more? I am eating a bit more, but I dont even know why! GAH. Its annoying. My mother says that I need to concetrate on getting well before thinking about dieting, because although I'm in remission, I'm still on the worse side of recovering, if you get what I mean.
Pointless post. But there we go. |
Some ppl gain weight on Prozac.

Hi there
Its probably both. If you feel well your likely to eat more, and remember you need food to be well. Different medications can make different people put on weight, (when i was on prozac i didn't put anything on). Did you loose any wieght when you were most ill? I lost loads, the Psychological stress can make you loose lots of weight, just cuz your tense and anxious all the time. If you think it the meds, talk to your Dr, their are other medications. But if Prozac is making you feel better, does the benifits outwiegh the negatives? Ive been on lots of different medication, for me Prozac was one of the better ones, but everyone is different. Maybe try more exercise (yeah, like im one to talk!) that will help release endorphines which will help you feel better too. Hope this helps Liz x |
