It's Summer..Scars/Cuts On Show..Does Everyone Cover Them Up?
I'm just wondering if everyone that S.I's covers up their scars or fresh cuts/burns/whatever, when it's summer, or they're in town or just around people in general..
Is there anyone that just leaves them uncovered? or do you all cover them up? Only, I cut on Monday night and I want to go out into town later on today, but it's boiling hot and I'd rather not wear a jumper, but I have no other way of covering up the fresh cuts! And I'd rather not have someone look at them and comment..What do I do? Does anyone have any advice? I wish i didn't have to worry so much! |
I would never expose my injuries to anyone in public, they are exceptionally private.
I would tend to wear thin shirts or long sleeved t shirts if you have them lower down, you can get really thin material that would help keep you cool and cover up the injuries. Sorry if it's not much help |
Thanks, I don;t like having them on show either, I hate it in fact!
It's just I don't have any long sleeved tops, which is really quite annoying.. Hmmm.. I'll have to try and find some whilst I'm in Prague, because it's going to be almost 30 degrees there! And I'd rather cover them up than have them on show :S Thanks for the advice, it's helpful! :) x |
because of the weather i am showing off my scars on my arms because i cant put up with the heat most people dont seem to notice and if they do they dont say anything
if i had fresh cuts i would cover them up no matter the weather but thats because i dont have the confidence but the chances are most people wont notice and the people who will are the ones that do it and are looking for them on you but they wont say anything if its too hot you could always try a thin cardigan or something that will cover you up and wont make you feel 10 times hotter take care xx |
Thanks, no, I don't have the confidence either.. I hate having my scars on show, let alone fresh cuts.. Thanks for the advice about the thin cardigan, though, I will have a look for one..
It's bloody boiling here |
Maybe like tubi grip?
I'm not bothering with covering up this year, I can't be bothered with the questions, so I'm sleeveless and in 3/4 length trousers. But that's because I'm lazy:P |
I wont have fresh cuts on show but i will have scars if they are over 1 month old.
Have you tried loads of random braclets? or wristbands or maybe a tubi grip like suggested (: |
I used to cover my scars up, but now it's not such a big deal for me. I hated wearing jeans and wristbands all summer, so I've just decided that if people ask I'll politely tell them that it is none of their business because really, it isn't. Almost all of my friends know what they're from so I'm not too worried about them seeing.
Fresh cuts, for sanitary reasons, should be covered with a bandage though. Light clothing, made of a thin cotton or similar fabric, is an excellent option and also falls in line with the "I'm trying to avoid a sunburn and skin cancer" thought. |
I used to cover my scars up all the time, and i know it gets boiling!! But now I have become less careful, and tend to walk around with bare arms when with friends- although im stll a bit self-conciuos going out in public!
My suggestion would be to get some really thin long sleeved tops if you are worried about showing them. However as others have said, even if someone asks- its no one elses business and if they have a problem then its their problem! well thats how I see it anyway =) take care x x |
I don't care about the scars on my arms, but with fresh cuts I always put a tubi-grip on my arms...
And with my legs, I just wear a really thin long skirt, it's really cool (haha spot the mistake) :) |
i wouldnt show them tbh, i only have scars atm, coz im trying to stop, but i cant show them because when im out im always with ppl, and no one knows about what i do, so i dont have a choice really.
that and id hate the looks i'd get from other people... :| |
When I'm at home, I don't mind showing off old scars, 'cause my housemate knows I do it, but I dun like her seeing recent stuffs.
When we go out, I cover up. Armwarmers and trousers (or knee high socks) ftw <33 |
I just think screw it.
Mind, I don't have that many new ones. A little kid asked me today. He had been chopsing my mate. So I bent down and said, "Yes, I DID. Problem?" And he said no and walked off. |
Erm...I show my scars, but not fresh injuries that aren't healed..so if they are scabs or I have a plaster over them, I do not have them on show. But scars I do. I got fed up, and well the heat is enough with short sleeves on !
But yeah that's what I do....I don't really think it's right to show fresh cuts but that's a personal thought...[Hope I didn't speak out of term] Sam x |
Hi,
I usually wear a tshirt i self harm on my wrist and all up my arm i find if i carry my cardi over my arm that i self harm on or carry a bag on that arm know 1 sees them. Hope thats some advice. Know 1 will say anythink to you about you cuts in public its non of there business wa u do to your self. Ali xxx |
hey... hope u found a way of hiding them... if you did at all.
about a year ago when i was self harming pretty bad i would ALWAYS have my arms covered up... but at the moment i dont really have any fresh cuts and i'm not really bothered any more... today i biked to my local gym and went swimming and it felt great it not have to hide... but if i was to go into town i would hide them uz there'd be more people there... i mean it depends with different people... weather you're ready of not within yourself to have to deal witht eh questions you may be asked.. a good wa of hiding cuts and scars in summer if light cardigans,, sweat bands or a think cotton top like a caftan or something... u know?? anyway... hope i've helped... take care... Perri x |
I cover up most of the time. Well, I cover up all of the time really. But when I went to turkey I didnt. I just wore a tubigrip, and didnt cover up the scars on the rest of my hand and the other hand. Wore the tubigrip because of fresh cuts on my wrist, so didnt uncover any cuts.
|
fresh cuts no, partially cause they're nowhere you possibly can see.
but scars i really dont care anymore cause they're over 2 years old |
i only cover my scars when i am at work. all other times (cept when i am cold) i show my scars. anything that still has a scab on it i wont show.
|
Hurtingdeepinside, how about buying one of those really thin loose long sleeved tops, then it would be cool but still cover you?
