incentive techniques i hadn't heard before *positive?*

Today my boyfriend found out about my self-harm (eek!) and he promised he won't leave me because of it but i have to try and get better. i explained to him that i'm trying and it's not that simple as to just stop.

Aaanyway more to the point, he told me two new ideas which were totally new to me and i hadn't heard before on RYL or elsewhere so i thought i'd post them here.

The heart technique:
Similar to the butterfly project, but with a heart. you draw a heart on your arm/leg/wherever you SH and that heart represents the heart of somebody you love, you care about or is close to you. if you harm while it's there you've broken their heart.

it sounds a little bleh but i thought it was worth posting

Then there was another one which i'm really not sure about at all but i thought i'd share and see what you guys think.

it was where every time you harm, you imagine it's not you but somebody who cares about you that you're harming. because i suppose you are, just not physically. and even if they don't know it you're hurting them ... not really sure about it but yeah.

Best wishes
Kyle

It's good to hear he's not going to leave you for it - many people don't want to know you after that (talking from experience). The ideas are lovely. :-) Good luck, take care x
