Is SH a social issue?

Hey
I have my english exam tomorrow, and we have to write about social issues, and I just wonder is SH a social issue? and if not do anyone have any suggestions to what I can write about?

It can be, yes. Family, ideas of mental illness, bullying, abuse and so forth.
How would you define a social issue?

i would say it was definitely a social issue due to how people who SI feel they need to hide it cos it isn't accepted by society, and so we get more withdrawn, and it affects how society sees us, and how confident we feel about applying for jobs, etc.

I hate that we all feel the need to hide it in public, etc, because we shouldn't be ashamed, we have a weakness yes, but it doesn't help being judged about it, that's my opinion, great discussion topic, I love debates!

Social issue = important issue in society.
Self harm is an issue in society if you see it as having any direct or indirect effect on society OR if you see society directly or indirectly affecting people self harming OR simply if it is a prominant issue in society.

There are some poeple who believe self harm is totally down to the individual, but even in that case you could probably relate it to being a social issue in some way. Blag it.

Important issue? Yes
Is anybody going to do anything about it? No

Because it don't matter what you do in this world, someones always going to lose out. So people don't bother, because there is no perfect solution and they can't be assed.

We have positive outlooks on humanity  oh yes.

I know humanity is eventually going to kill itself, sad but oh well.
