Question.
Hi guys i took part in a study about self-harm. A student at uni was doing papers or course work and decided self-harm was to be her topic and had to get 8 people to come so i emailed her and we meet and she asked lots of question for her work and this is what got me i did not know what to say how about you
'is your self-harm part of you or your behavior?' so what is it for you, i said that i think its become so much big part of me in the last 7 years that the line that you once could have been split have all joined together and i no longer can separate self-harm as a behavior it now part me of can you. ![]() |
Isn't it kind of pointless to add the *self harm related* thing to the title when you're posting this thread on a site entirely about self harm?

And to answer the question I would probably say it was a part of me but isn't anymore. xx |
For me a person’s behavior depends on their personality and a person’s personality is part of them so really I see no difference between the two.

It's a behaviour.
Not part of someone. |
i would say for me it is part of me as it is part of who i am but it is also part of my behaviour aswell. its the way i bahave to stress and stuff.
So both. |

---- I think it's a behaviour, because you can change it..... I know a person can change, but it's their behaviour that changes..... Although there is a connection between the two obviously. Am I making any sense? x |
I think its a behaviour its like a dog barking all day and all night and you have the do a shaping plan

thanks all making great sence i still dont know but thanks all

SI is a part of my behavior and my behavior is a part of me. There you go.

I think that it depends on how you look at it. I see it as a behaviour, an incredibly bad habit. For me its an unhealthy way with dealing with my problems. For some strange reason I see depression as a part of me but not SI. Maybe its because I haven't been self harming for a very long time. Or maybe its becasue I'm trying to quit and accepting SI as a part of me would mean that i'll never be free of it.
