SATS are by far not the end of the world hun... Just take it in your stride and next time try and do your best :-)

Remember, you can only ever do your best.

Just by giving it another shot shows how strong you are.

i wouldn't stress, SATs are not half as important as your teachers will make you think.

Narcissism 23-05-2008 12:29 AM

Is it worthwhile to point out that SATs in England and America have different degrees of importance?

ashleighbean 23-05-2008 12:46 AM

thanks.

Oh, I know how you feel. I turned on my computer early this morning to get my scores, and they were terrible. I'm a good student, so I want to go to this really prestigious school, AND it's my second time, so I figured I'd do better- I got a 100 points better. Didn't even break 2000. My scores aren't good enough, and I'll have to take it a third time. I got the exact same score on the math. And then my friend took it and got a great score. It's depressing. College worries me. I'm second choice for everything. I didn't get into the magnet school, I was alternate for some other magnet school but on a 1 in a million chance got in.....I hope I get in somewhere next year. XP

Math completely kicked my ass on the SATs, dont worry about it. Youll have lots of opportunities to take them over, and a low SAT score doesnt necessarily spell out death when applying to college.
You can always try the ACT too, I did really good on those whereas my SAT scores were just mediocre.

measure in love 23-05-2008 01:49 AM

Yeah I'm taking the ACT soon. I just wish I could do better on the SAT, my math score was awful.

The Mad Hatter 23-05-2008 01:52 AM

hey you did much better then i did on it

measure in love 23-05-2008 01:56 AM

Yeah, its just my second time and I didn't improve all that much. I'm worried about college.

And don't worry. Some people are better suited for the ACT. My sister didn't even take the SAT, just the ACT, and got into a great school. I just need it for scholarship reasons...and I'm not even taking the SAT IIs

englishrose 23-05-2008 01:32 PM

well done its better then nothing there is always one thing we suck at mine is english can't understand it to save my life but well done. XXX

Ah, so SATs are completely different in the US to the UK? That makes a bit more sense now, thanks, because in the UK SATs are published as a grade in number form rather than x/y.

Although I don't fully understand, I'm sure this is not the be all and end all of everything, and that you tried your best. :)
It's done now, over and done with, which is always a cause to celebrate no matter what the outcome.

I believe that SATS are the equivalent of A levels in terms of applying and getting into Uni? Other than that, I don't entirely understand.

I know how much it sucks to not get the grade you were hoping for, but if you put the effort in between now and when you next take it, you can't do any more than that. Try not to worry about it too much and do as much as you can in preperation for next time.

measure in love 23-05-2008 07:21 PM

I'm not sure what A levels are, but yeah, they're a pretty important part of college admission. The ACT is supposed to be easier, if you think a different way, so I'm taking that too.
