Antisceptic Wipes
Hey,
I have recently been told to use antisceptic wipes. My tutor gave me some and the last time I cut I used a wipe but found it made the cuts sore and red whereas normally I didn't really use anything but water to clean up. Am I supposed to use the wipes on the cuts or just for what you've used or both? I thought I could clean up using the wipes but now I'm unsure so I thought it might be best to ask? Thanks |
I find this as well when I use wound wash. I think it's normal, but I could be wrong.

Hmmm...it depends on what is in the antiseptic wipes. On the package for the wipes it should say it you can use them on broken skin. Anytime you use anything to clean out a wound you should make sure that it is approved to be used on broken skin. Some wipes and wound washes have alcohol in them which can make the wound sting and burn and become irritated.

hmmm mine don't say for broken skin but they say they are alcohol free but they still made the cuts sore and red.

If they make the cuts sore and red you prolly shouldn't use them, and just use a wound wash instead.

I'm not sure correct me of I'm wrong but if a cut is itchy it means it's healing and you should leave it alone but if it's sore then stop whatever you are using and just maybe clean it softly with some luke warm water. That's what my mum's always told me. And I can't say it ever went wrong. lol. Mums *sighs and rolls eyes*

yea, I think for the future I will just wash them with water. It never had any problems previously before using the wipes so I will remember that.
Thanks :) |
A lot of time if it's itchy that does mean it's healing, but it also means that it is drying out, which isn't a good thing, so you if it is itchy you should apply some antibiotic cream.
