Sunburn & scars
OK, so about a week ago, I was out in the sun sun for about 2 hours and got burnt reeeeal bad. I didn't put sunblock on, and I am very fair skinned.
Now, the funny part is, I was wearing an elastoplast scar reducer patch on my upper arm, so I now have a lovely white patch surrounded by sunburn. Anyway. There are scars that weren't covered by the patch. And I'm just wondering; I know what sunburn does to normal skin, but what does it do to scars? Does it do anything? Sorry, I know this is a bit rambly, I was just wondering.:jumpin: |
It really depends on your skin type and the scar type. It also depends on what dermatologist you ask. Some say moderate amounts of sun help scars fade, others disagree. If I remember correctly the scars will turn red with the rest of your skin, but they won't tan, after the red fades the scars will turn back into whatever color they were.
For the white spot, try using a sunless tanning lotion on the spot to make it match the rest of your arm once the sub burn fades into a tan. |
I got told to put more suncream and if possible a HIGHER factor suncream on scars to stop them getting burnt.
Scar tissue burns easier and more then 'normal' skin due to lack of pigmentation or something like that? My scars turn whiter in summer, and as I'm stupidly pale anyway, when I get a tiniest bit of colour, the scars you wouldn't normally see become more evident, but like Aidey said,it's going to vary from person to person as everyone's different. Wear suncream, stay out of the sun at the hottest times and things like that. |
