Early Intervention Team?

Has anybody here had any experiences with somthing called
Early Intervention (in Pychosis?) I think that's what they're called anyways

I'm seeing them today , I think it's over the voice in my head
I'm not sure.

What do they do and
Where they helpful?

I'm nervous! :ermm: I hate talking about this voice with other people :-(

Steel Maiden 13-05-2008 07:18 PM

How did it go?

little_miss 13-05-2008 08:33 PM

Im seeing the early intervention team for psychosis next tuesday. It would be nice to hear how it went for you, what did they ask and do? Will you be seeing them regularly? x

Starz* 13-05-2008 09:26 PM

I think theyre like the crisis teams. im not such if they are cpn's, social workers or healthcare assistants or what but they basically help people experiencing their first episode of psychosis.
hope it went ok.

tamobhuuta 13-05-2008 09:45 PM

i've seen a woman from there 4 times, and i'm seeing her again tomorrow, maybe another time after that as well. it was cos of a voice in my head, to assess for psychosis, but they decided i wasn't too crazy. now she's helping me do sort of risk management, so my mum doesn't have to watch me everywhere, looking at things from a different point of view instead of either 'there's no point' (me) or 'work it out yourself' (the psychiatrist).

how did yours go today? i hope they can help you, you deserve to get better :)

alienshe_cheesycake 14-05-2008 07:20 PM

thanks 4 the replies
I did see them

They explained that they would do an assment and from there they might be dealing with me instead of my CMHT

They basically asked me a ton of questions
About anything unusual I've seen or heard
(e.g voices/hallucinations)
any unusual ideas, paranioa, unusual beliefs

Basically anything unusual, they asked me loads of questions about the voice, what it says, how it says it, how much control I feel it has over me
ect ect

They asked me questions for well over an hour, and they didn't even finish there, they're coming back on friday to finish the assment and then they're getting back to me

Fingers crossed they do want to deal with me becase my CMHT doesn't understand the stuff happening to me I think
I was reffered to them by my doctor in hospital I think
and I'm hoping that they can help me

tamobhuuta 15-05-2008 04:15 PM

*hugs* i hope they can help you

Steel Maiden 16-05-2008 08:21 PM

Good luck. I've had that sort of interview before and it usually helps.

Zedebee 16-05-2008 08:41 PM

Just wanted to add that I saw them for a while last year and they were really good...hope it works out for you

Steel Maiden 17-05-2008 04:06 PM

How is it going now?
My CMHT are a bit crass tbh.

zowie 18-05-2008 08:58 PM

I see the EIP team, and I've found them really helpful. After the assessment you should see the same person regulary who can learn about you and help you understand your experiences.
It's good having someone to turn to when things get rough too.
Hope it all goes well for you xxx

hammy 18-05-2008 09:21 PM

i've been seeing them for 2 years now. Are very good. good luck x

alienshe_cheesycake 19-05-2008 10:12 AM

I saw the woman and she finished the assesment on Friday
Now she's going back to discuss me with "the team"
and if they think that they can help me then I'm going to be under there care from now on

I'm just a bit worried because she has to mark up the assesment
and it has all different scores for the way you answer the questions
Basically how severe your problems are, the top score for each question is a 6 (severe) the low score is 1 (mild?) or something

I'm just really worried because you need at least one 6 to qualify to be under there care and I'm worried that I won't get them looking after me in future. Just because I think they could help me a whole lot more than my CMHT. eep. :-(

ive been seeing themfor over 2 years now and theyve been very helpful and havesaved my life many timess. i hope they can help youn too, I used to see adolecent servicdes now im in adult services who arent as good as the adolesent services but theyre still pretty good.

little_miss 19-05-2008 09:13 PM

I dont mean to hijack your post, but what are some examples of questions they will ask? Im seeing the CAMEO team in my area tomorrow morning, and i just wandered what theyre likely to ask?

Aubergine 20-05-2008 08:39 AM

I've been seeing them for a while now. I had a three month assessment, and I've just been told that they'll be taking me on long term (for up to three years).

They're really good. I have regular contact with my CPN and she helps with all kinds of stuff. Phones me if I 've had to go to A&E and is pretty much always available. There's a big focus on getting people functioning as highly as they can, which is great - there's nothing worse than not being able to function.

Good luck.

xxx

Steel Maiden 20-05-2008 07:21 PM

They will help you, I am sure of it, but only if you really express how much you need them.
