Gambling
It's become extremely clear that my mother has a gambling problem and I have no idea how to deal with it. She's spending all of my parents' money on it and keeps saying she's not doing it anymore, but she keeps on taking lots of money out of their account. Now she's admitted to stealing (she says it's harmless borrowing, of course) from different funds at her job and she's just trying to pay them back. She doesn't see it as a big deal at all and she's in denial that she has a problem. She's hurting our family and doesn't acknowledge it at all. My father, of course, wants me to talk to her, as though she's going to magically see things differently because of me. I'm extremely concerned and worried about her, especially now she's put herself in a position where she could go to jail.
If anyone has anything, no matter how small, to suggest, I'd really really appreciate any input at all. |
Do you think that both you and your dad can sit her down and talk to her about this? About how not only is she hurting herself but she is hurting the ones that love her the most. Maybe then she might see that the problem is not only hers, but has now spread to all of you.
Sorry if it wasnt much help! Take Care and I hope things at home start to go a little better x Kate |
Gambling addiction is really only just be recognised for the problem that it is and there are only a few places to get support.
Gambler's Anonymous would be the major one. Have a look at the site http://www.gamcare.org.uk for advice / support Hope that helps, and that your mum gets the help she needs Sarah xxx |
