Headaches on the pill
Im on dianette and ive had a 4 day long headache, which is just behind my left eye. I think its off the pill, cos ive had them like this before.
Theres no point seeing my dr because he will take me off it, and i'd rather have clear skin than no headaches. So i dunno, should i just take paracetamol and aspirin everyday? x |
You can try taking PAracetamol/Aspirin but only when you have a headache, don't use them when you don't as they will become inaffective/ potentially could increase the risk of you getting headaches. Ibuprofen is often a better drug to use for headaches than aspirin.
Do you always get the headaches when you're on the pill and never got them before you started on it? Do they occur at the same point in the cycle; like do you always get them after you've started a new pack from your week off/ at the end of a pack/ or something? |
"headaches" are commonly noted effects of any contraceptive pill,
has this pill been particurly helpful with your skin or could your try a diff pill. aspirin and paracetamol or ibuprofen and paracetamol can be taken together, you can take each tablet 4 hrs apart so what i try to do it take say paracetamol now, in 2 hrs take the ibuprofen or aspirin then 4hrs from now take another paracetamol so you are always "dosed" up enough and dont have a window where your in pain. (but as animad said-no point taking if dont have headache) however on all pain killing medication it recommends that if the pain continues, nad your taking the pain killers for (i think) about 7days it says to see your gp anyway so keep a check on it, worth getting it check out. you can always say to gp your happy to stay on it as helping skin but wanted to check the headaches out anyway take care x |
4 day long headache, and behind only ONE eye?
Sounds like a MIGRAINE to me. The classical sign of the migraine is that it's only in one part of the head, or worse in one part. Either than, or you have a sinus infection on one side. I get migraines, and normal pain meds will not kill them. In fact, if I have a headache and it's doesn't respond to normal pain meds right away, I know to bump up to my migraine meds (otherwise, it will be there for 4 days or longer!) Don't worry about seeing your doctor- chances are, the doctor will prescribe a medication meant specifically for migraines, or will tell you that you have a sinus infection, and give you an antibiotic for that, and possibly pain meds too. You can also get a shot which will kill the migraine by knocking you out and making you sleep, basically, but that one is usually used after you've tried other pain meds with no effect. And no, I don't think the doctor will take you off the pill, because this headache sounds unrelated to the pill. (Although, if you keep a diary and keep getting migraines with this pill, you might want to switch to a different hormone mix and see if that ends the headaches.) |
i think it is off the pill because they come when im on it and go when im off it.
I usually get them near the end of the pack, but im joining two together this month . My dr took me off the pill before due to there being a higher risk of a stroke, if you get headaches http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/27000853/ Thanks for the replies :D x |
Yeah, I've gotta agree with the doctor on this. If I was you I'd come off it or see if he can switch you onto another one. Headaches can be caused by a slight increase in BP or a bit of increase in pressure in your brain, both of these can cause damage to the blood vessels in your brain which may lead to strokes

Try not to take paracetemol/aspirin everyday as you can get addicted, like I am...I'm on microgynon (the pill) and I get headaches too...maybe there are some herbal (natural) medicines for headaches?
Or maybe its the weather, it has warmed up maybe you're dehydrated? xx |
Err, I'm too late...aren't I? lol sorry...xx
